An Eating Disorder is a mental health condition, whereby the individual has an unhealthy occupation about eating food and body shape. The disorder can be harmful to overall health as it can affect a person’s emotions and relationships negatively. Eating disorders do no discriminate between gender, age or culture. They affect approximately 4% of the Australian population and are even more common in adolescence. There are four common types of eating disorders. They are anorexia, bulimia, binge eating and food intake disorder. Each type of the disorder have their own challenges and set of treatments that you can work through with and be guided by your consultant.
