ADHD Treatment - Professor Michael Kohn
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a neuro-developmental disorder and affects one in twenty five Australians. It is characterised by persistent patterns of inattentive, impulsive, and sometimes hyperactive behaviour, and is frequently accompanied by emotional regulation challenges. These behaviours develop from underlying, and often inherited, neurological differences. Those with ADHD are less able to inhibit and regulate attention, behaviour and emotions; to reliably recall information in the moment; to plan and problem solve; to self-monitor or self-regulate. ADHD can cause significant functional disability at home school, and in all areas of life. Early intervention can prevent unfavourable outcomes.
Total Health Care provides evidence-based assessment and treatment, to assist those with ADHD to embrace their strengths and interests, learn to manage their challenges and “be happy and healthy”.
